Using a first-of-its-kind generative artificial intelligence tool

SAN DIEGO, 2024 August 20 – The generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) chatbot WiliBot, developed by ambient Internet of things (IoT) pioneer Wiliot, allows users to have natural language conversations with any ambient IoT-connected device. Companies and eventually customers may have meaningful conversations with the things they manufacture, source, distribute, and eventually buy when they combine the power of generative AI with this massive stream of real-time ambient physical world data.

Businesses will be able to ask inquiries like, “What’s the shelf life of this product?” to their products and supply chains using WiliBot. How did it arrive at the shop? What product, and why, should I stock next? Why is it safe to stock this product? What is this product’s carbon footprint, and why is it so high or low?

According to Wiliot CEO Tal Tamir, “generative AI and ambient IoT are increasingly symbiotic technologies.” The massive volumes of data generated by ambient IoT about trillions of ordinary objects can only be understood by GenAI. Conversely, enormous volumes of data analysis are how GenAI acquires knowledge.

Stamp-sized, self-powered IoT Pixels are attached to goods, packing, containers, crates, pallets, and other items using Wiliot’s Ambient Data Platform. These IoT Pixels provide data, including location, temperature, humidity, and carbon footprint, to the Wiliot cloud via Bluetooth, enabling organizations to analyze it.

Then, using AI and machine learning algorithms created by Wiliot, businesses can recognize supply chain “events” and automatically generate alerts or AI responses that let them make necessary adjustments or improve their operations. An example of this would be when the algorithms detect that shipments of produce or pharmaceuticals have been handled at unsafe temperatures.

Tamir went on, “Wiliot has long been a pioneer in artificial intelligence and machine learning for deriving insights into ambient IoT data, even though the company’s work in generative AI is relatively recent.” We’ve been asked how GenAI capabilities might make the transformation even easier as more businesses start implementing Wiliot’s Ambient Data Platform. WiliBot, the practical fusion of ambient IoT and AI, is our response.

Starting right away, Wiliot will pilot WiliBot with select enterprise clients. A wider rollout is planned for late 2024 and early 2025. Businesses looking to enquire about their ambient IoT-enabled goods and supply chains will use WiliBot during this piloting phase.

In the future, consumers will be able to interact with and speak with their products to learn more about their carbon footprint, materials composition, compliance with ethical sourcing, quality and safety, and other factors. This convergence of ambient IoT and generative AI will be made available to consumers through an ecosystem of mobile apps, both in-store and at home.

Tamir continued, “Companies can already obtain unprecedented intelligence about trillions of products thanks to Wiliot’s Ambient Data Platform.” More companies will now be able to inquire about and simply comprehend every detail about those products, as will consumers in the future. We are addressing the query, “What if your products could talk?” with WiliBot. Thanks to WiliBot, they may now do so in natural language.”

A leading large language model (LLM) serves as the foundation for WiliBot, which combines the revolutionary potential of ambient IoT with the computing power of GenAI to usher in a new era of supply chain visibility.

Recent initiatives with top food merchants have shown how important the connection between ambient IoT and AI is. Food shrink, or food that is lost, damaged, or spoils before it reaches shop shelves, makes up about 5% of the goods in the food chain, according to initiatives using the Wiliot Ambient Data Platform.

Two thirds of these food shrink problems can be resolved by the Wiliot platform, which guarantees a safer food supply, more customer satisfaction, and cheaper costs. WiliBot will now democratize access to these insights throughout the company.

At MWC Las Vegas 2024, October 8–10, Wiliot will showcase WiliBot and its Ambient Data Platform at West Hall Booth 910. During its October 9 event, the company will also provide views on the convergence of artificial intelligence and ambient IoT titled “5G Advanced Release 19: Transforming Industries with Ambient IoT and AI.”
