Odisha partners with Flipkart to promote local Crafts and Handlooms

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with e-commerce giant Flipkart. It give a boost to the state’s arts, craft, and handloom sectors.
This collaboration with the State Institute for the Production of Arts and Crafts (SIDAC) under the Flipkart Samarth programme will allow the local artisans, weavers and craftsmen. So, they can showcase their distinctive products to millions of customers across the world. Well known brands from Odisha will set up stores on Flipkart Marketplace.
According to Odisha Government, “The alliance with Flipkart marks the beginning of a new age in Odisha’s handicrafts and hand-held industries. It led by Boyanika, Utkalika and Sambalpuri Bastralaya, among others”.
This collaboration will also help artisans acquire the useful identity, digital media and financial management skills. While highlighting local history and exclusive goods. Rajneesh Kumar, Chief CAO,  Flipkart Group said that MoU will bring Flipkart Samarth ‘s benefits to the state’s. Thousands of hand-looming craftsmen, weavers and craftsmen.
They are pleased to join hands with the government of Odisha. So that they bring the state’s heritage on our platform while providing the state’s artisans and weavers. So that they can fulfill their ambitions and expand their businesses pan-India.
