Centre for Textile Functions (CTF), is the known name for school of textiles at NMIMS Shirpur campus. This department has been offering technical support, consultancies, planning and coordination with government bodies and industry for establishment of Textile Parks and allied industries in the region, besides developing students to be industry ready through their academic programmes over the past 15 years.
In view of rapid changes in managerial practices as well as technological developments in textile industry, it is crucial to develop the understanding and practices of shop floor supervisors (middle and lower management) to accomplish higher performance and to improve the organization as a whole.
In this context, CTF has taken an initiative by creating a platform of series of MDPs to develop this knowledge base and train practicing managers in order to deliver better performance in the industry. It is proposed to hold such sessions for entire value chain of textile manufacture by the name of “Better Industrial Practices for Improved Productivity”. Speakers from the industry and practicing professionals are invited to deliver talks in these programme and to provide participants with a deep understanding of the given area and to clarify their queries and doubts through a set of questionnaires collected from registering members at the time of registration. It helps achieving participants’’ satisfaction on attending the session.
The inaugural programme in this series was held on 30th October 2021 on the topic of “Airjet Loom Shed” covering deliberations on key factors governing productivity on the shop floor. The second one was organized on 30th November 2021 on “Yarns for Denim Manufacture”. The eminent speakers shared their industrial experiences on various important aspects of improving the productivity of denim manufacturing.
We are in the process of preparing technical articles on those topics to be published in this column in coming months. This will help all readers to clarify their queries those who had missed the programme. Please feel free to email us with any further queries or clarifications to [email protected].
Our next MDP will be held on 22nd December 2021 on “ESG in Textile Processing”. Environmental & Social Governance (ESG) is the buzzing issue for this segment of the textile industry. We are trying to address the same. We look forward to your participation in the programme. The registration link is given below.
