With the future of our world at the forefront of their minds, customers are becoming more eco-conscious, and swim manufacturers are taking note and action by including more sustainable alternatives in their swimwear collections.
The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) of the Control Union in the Netherlands has certified Hyosung’s 100 percent recycled Mipan regen nylon and regen polyester manufactured from reclaimed trash. O’Neill Swimsuits has launched a collection of women’s swimwear created with Hyosung’s Mipanswers, honouring the company’s founder, Jack O’Neill’s, devotion to ocean conservation.
Daze Dayz, a Korean-based company noted for its 70s-inspired retro-fashion with a modern twist, has created a comprehensive swimsuit collection made of hyosung regen polyester produced from recycled bottles. The GRS has recognised and approved both fibres for their energy-saving benefits.
Hyosung has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Busan Metropolitan Government and a social enterprise, Netspa, to create an eco-friendly nylon from recycled fishing nets. The collaboration was created to decrease the contamination of marine ecosystems caused by these nets and to raise awareness of the need for marine environment conservation. Hyosung will invest in the research and marketing of Mipan regen Ocean, a material created from fishing nets.
