- DHL Express supports Hong Kong’s fashion scene by delivering the creations of world-renowned Hong Kong-born designer Robert Wun to international audiences.
HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach Newswire – 3 September 2024 -The largest international express service provider in the world, DHL Express, said today that it has been selected by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) to serve as the logistics partner for the CENTRESTAGE opening gala performance this year once more. CENTRESTAGE ELITES.
In 2016, DHL was initially announced as the official logistics partner for the event. It has been entrusted with handling the showpieces for renowned Hong Kong-born designer Robert Wun this year, who is the first local designer to exhibit in Paris Haute Couture Week. Wun, who is currently located in London, used DHL’s GoGreen Plus service, which incorporates sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to achieve a considerable reduction in CO2e emissions during transport, to have his pieces shipped from London to Hong Kong.
DHL Express uses GoGreen Plus to apply decarbonization levers throughout the DHL network and credits the resulting decrease in CO2 emissions to shipments made by customers. With the usage of SAF, the shipping journey’s CO2 emissions for this particular delivery will be cut by 50%, and the reductions will be independently verified by an auditor.
It gives us great pleasure to serve as the HKTDC’s official logistics partner for the CENTRESTAGE ELITES this year. Andy Chiang, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of DHL Express Hong Kong and Macau, stated, “We look forward to delivering the fashion and art pieces featured at the event sustainably via our GoGreen Plus service as we advocate for the development of Hong Kong’s fashion industry.”
“Once again, the HKTDC will be showcasing an extraordinary and vibrant fashion scene through the annual CENTRESTAGE ELITES. As we feature showpieces from all over the globe, particularly from renowned Hong Kong-born designer Robert Wun, we are glad to be working with our trusted logistics partner DHL Express, who has supported us in this fabulous endeavor since 2016,” Sophia Chong, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC said.
On September 3, the Hong Kong Palace Museum will host this year’s grand opening event, CENTRESTAGE ELITES. The “Home Coming” program will be showcasing Mr. Wun’s haute couture line. He will be the first designer to host a fashion show in the Hong Kong Palace Museum in addition to celebrating his triumphant return to Hong Kong with his presentation at CENTRESTAGE ELITES. Through the museum’s famous ruby red doors, attendees will enter and embark on an incredible evening experience.
