Textile Engineering College Noakhali’s TECN Science & Innovation Club recently curated a remarkable textile experience with “TECN Fabric Day 2024.” The event, split into two fascinating segments, not only showcased a diverse range of fabrics but also hosted a Textile Upcycle Competition. In this competition, old garments were skillfully repurposed into practical items, revealing the immense potential of textile upcycling.

The spotlight shone brightly on the event’s Laser Print Banner, a unique creation by Md. Moinul Islam Bijoy, crafted from Denim Fabric, adding a touch of artistic flair to the exhibition. Title-sponsored by Textile Suppliers Ltd. and with the backing of Textile Todays, the exhibition emerged as a collaborative celebration of textile ingenuity.

Guided by the expertise of Zakaria Alam Jiku Sir, a faculty member at Textile Engineering College Noakhali, the collection of approximately 1700 fabric samples from 197 different mills & companies was a testament to the industry’s vibrant diversity. Renowned mills such as Square Denim, Argon Denim, Azlan Denim, Thermax Check Fabrics, JCtex, Liberty Knitwear, and more participated, contributing to the fabric extravaganza.

The event garnered substantial support from industry professionals, including Raihan Ahmed, Al Imran, Rashedur Rahman Setu, Fahad Tuhin, Zia Uddin, Ajijul Hawladar, and numerous others.

Adding an extra layer of excitement, the Textile Upcycling Competition crowned Robiul Islam Fahim and Ayesha Siddiqua Khan as the champions, showcasing their exceptional creativity. The second spot was claimed by Shamima Akter Riya, while Mojahidul Islam secured the third position.

Held at the TECN Museum on January 24, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, the exhibition’s success prompted an extension for an additional day, responding to the enthusiastic requests from students and campus authorities.

The TECN Science and Innovation Club expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the teachers and the Hon’ble Principal for their invaluable contributions to this initiative. “TECN Fabric Day 2024” not only displayed the potential of textile engineering but also highlighted the transformative power of innovation within the textile industry.
