Isko, a recent signatory to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Jeans Redesign initiative, is taking an important step toward overcoming one of the most significant problems in post-consumer recycled denim textiles.
Isko has announced a licencing deal for the award-winning Green Machine from the Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA). The Green Machine is a one-of-a-kind device for entirely separating and recycling cotton and polyester mixes on a large scale. Isko has invested in HKRITA’s Green Machine, a revolutionary recycling technology. The mill is also focusing on developing textiles with a guaranteed minimum recycled content blend of 50% or higher GRS (Global Recycle Standard). This will drastically lower a fabric’s carbon and water impact, as well as making it simple for customers to follow a garment’s sustainable journey from the beginning of the supply chain to the product they purchase.
