o US apparel imports in Mar 2023 were at US$ 6.3 bn., down 32% from Mar 2022. On YTD basis, the imports were 19% down compared to 2022.
o EU apparel imports in Mar 2023, at US$ 7.7 Bn, showed a 7% MoM growth but were 9% lower compared to Mar 2022.
o UK apparel imports in Mar 2023 were at US$ 1.8 bn., down 18% from Mar 2022. On YTD basis, the imports were 14% down compared to 2022.
o Japan apparel imports in Mar 2023, at US$ 2.3 Bn, were 10% higher compared to Mar 2022.
- Apparel retail
o US apparel store sales in Apr’ 23 are projected to increase by 4% compared to Apr’ 22. Home furnishing store sales in Apr’23 are projected to decline by 9% compared to Apr’ 22.
o US clothing & accessories e-commerce sales in Q1 2023 were only 2% higher than in Q1 2022.
o UK’s apparel store sales in Mar 2023 have grown by 11%, to reach £ 4.2 Bn, compared to Mar 2022.
o UK clothing e-commerce sales in Q1 2023 were 13% higher than in Q1 2022.
- India’s apparel exports in Apr 2023 are projected to be US$ 1.2 bn., a sharp dip of 25% compared to Apr’ 22. From Jan to Apr 2023, the exports have declined by 13% compared to same period in 2022.
