The easing of lockdown restrictions by several states will allow clothing exports catch up quickly and reach pre-Covid levels shortly, according to AEPC on Saturday.
According to A Sakthivel, Chairman of the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), while overall global demand has remained strong, factory lockdowns in various regions of the nation have put companies in partial closure.
With the reduction in daily illness cases and the restart of economic activity, India is now poised to achieve robust export growth, he added.
“With the reopening of the economy, clothing exports are expected to catch up quickly and shortly reach pre-Covid levels. Until domestic demand improves, India’s economic recovery is likely to be dominated by exports. And, because exports necessitate personalised management, MSMEs will lead the pack of exporters “According to Sakthivel.
