To improve the tourism business, Uttarakhand Tourism and THSC have signed a memorandum of understanding.

Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board, the nodal body to advise the Government on all matters relating to tourism in the State of Uttarakhand signed an agreement with Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council, an awarding body approved by National Council of Vocational Education and Training under Ministry of Skills Development & Entrepreneurship, Govt of India. The agreement was signed by in august presence of Hon’ble Tourism Minister Shri Satpal Ji Maharaj between Srimati Poonam Chand, Additional Director UTDB and Shri Rajan Bahadur, Chief Executive Officer THSC.

The MoU is aimed to upskill and reskill 4000 people from the state. The training will be provided to Eatery Owners, Guest House Caretakers, Tour drivers on the Chardham Route along-with Heritage Tour & Nature Guides.

 The training program will focus on improving the tourism and hospitality aspect with addition of topics such as Digital & Financial literacy, health & hygiene, safety & security, and entrepreneurship development. The program will be delivered in offline mode across 9 unique districts which attracts maximum religious, leisure, eco and adventure tourism.

 Shri Sachin Kurve, IAS, Secretary of Tourism, Govt of Uttarakhand & CEO UTDB congratulated both UTDB & THSC team on signing this agreement which is help the department to improve the tourism landscape of the state through skilled and certified workforce across districts. This agreement will help to create avenues for entrepreneurs and reduce migration from the state

The mission of this agreement is to

·        To develop technical and behavioural capabilities of citizens already working in the tourism landscape within the state

·        To improve entrepreneurship opportunities, earning potential resulting to better revenue generation and social development.
