Tanzania cotton output is expected to nearly quadruple in the marketing year commencing June 2021 to July 2022, compared to the previous year, according to the US Department of Agriculture late Thursday.
Cotton output is anticipated to reach a new high of 600,000 480-pound (218 kilogramme) bales, up from 390,000 bales the previous year, according to the USDA’s August world agricultural production report.
According to the USDA, production will increase by 20% in August, from 500,000 bales last month.
“Farmers had access to more fertiliser and insecticides this year, which helped them increase area, enhance yields, and decrease pest damage,” the USDA said.
