Teijin Polyester (Thailand) Limited, a subsidiary of Teijin Frontier Co., Ltd., has declared intentions to enhance its conjugate filament production capacity through the extension of its spinning and drawing capabilities. The expansion is intended to fulfill the increasing demand for these filaments, which are regarded as a desirable substitute for wool fibers, on a worldwide scale.

Bangkok’s TPL will develop into a center for the production of conjugate filaments, both present and future. With the addition of the new machinery, manufacturing capacity will reach 700 tons annually by FY2025, with full-scale production starting in September 2024.The enlarged plant will provide textiles, finished goods, and raw yarns to both local and foreign markets, including Teijin Frontier Group.

Teijin also described the method used to create conjugate filaments, which are fibers with structures resembling side-by-side or core-sheath topologies. This procedure involves spinning two distinct polymers together from a divided spinneret. This procedure enables a wide range of functional features and applications.

Teijin Frontier reported robust sales growth in materials such as Trixion, which has the appearance and texture of worsted wool with the added benefit of stretchability. These filaments are frequently found in uniforms and fashionable clothing. TPL has been running close to capacity and implementing efficiency improvements to meet this demand, but more growth was required to stay up.
