New Delhi, 24 December 2024: The LNJ Bhilwara Group’s flagship business, RSWM Limited, has been recognized with the Silver Award in the “Sustainable Fashion and Textile” category of the esteemed Financial Express Green Sarathi Awards. With an emphasis on minimizing environmental effect and promoting sustainable innovation, RSWM’s campaign, “Redefining Sustainability – Mapping Initiatives for a Greener Tomorrow,” is highlighted by this recognition.

RSWM’s environmental strategy is supported by six different sustainability initiatives. The company’s use of renewable energy sources is the first of these. A 20 MW wind power unit, an additional 40 MW of wind power capacity, and a 32 MW in-house solar plant are all part of the company’s developed infrastructure. This large arrangement guarantees a consistent flow of clean energy to its activities, significantly lowering carbon emissions and accelerating the shift to more environmentally friendly energy sources.

Apart from renewable energy, RSWM has made incorporating biofuels into its operations a top priority. By 2025, the company plans to have 75% of its activities run by biofuel, having already reduced its carbon emissions by 800,000 metric tons annually.Three of RSWM’s six coal-fired boilers have been modified to run on biofuel with an investment of ₹35 crore. All boilers are expected to be converted by 2025, which would be a significant step in reducing its environmental impact and removing its dependency on coal.

Additionally, RSWM has optimized its manufacturing input materials by concentrating on organic cotton, recycled cotton, and recycled polyester, all of which are vital to the company’s sustainability initiatives. This shows the company’s dedication to sustainable practices. By encouraging sustainable farming methods and minimizing the use of dangerous pesticides, organic cotton provides a natural, environmentally beneficial substitute. The 8,162 MT of recycled cotton utilized annually comes from pre- and post-consumer waste, greatly lowering the demand for virgin resources. To further demonstrate its dedication to ecologically conscious sourcing, RSWM also recycles 1,830 PET bottles a year to create recycled polyester, which currently makes up 50% of its total polyester production.

The business makes sure that no fiber waste is thrown away as part of its dedication to sustainability in the textile production processes. Fiber waste is recycled and reincorporated into the manufacturing cycle both before and after production. RSWM’s commitment to resource efficiency and circular economy principles is best demonstrated by this zero-waste attitude.

Another essential component of RSWM’s sustainability philosophy is still water conservation. The company recycles all of the wastewater produced during manufacturing by strictly adhering to a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) policy. This wastewater is then safely repurposed for operations or turned into potable water for nearby towns. These initiatives are complemented by sophisticated rainwater harvesting methods, which provide sustainable water management for all installations.

RSWM also places significant emphasis on organic manure utilization. Organic waste generated is used flourish the orchards and greenery in all the plants. Some agricultural plots associated with RSWM exclusively rely on organic manure, reducing chemical fertilizer usage and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

Certifications like GOTS, OEKO-TEX Standard 100, Global Recycled Standard, and ISO 14001:2015, which demonstrate RSWM’s adherence to international standards for sustainable practices, further legitimize the company’s sustainability initiatives. Driven by its motto, “We Only Take What We Can Give,” RSWM is poised to accomplish lofty objectives, such as attaining zero workplace accidents and obtaining 50% of its energy from sustainable sources by 2035. Additional sustainability objectives are to eliminate hazardous chemicals by 2030, ensure complete supply chain transparency by 2032, and reduce the water footprint of new textiles by 30%. The business also intends to invest in community development initiatives, make safer and more inclusive workplaces, and include sustainable governance into decision-making.
