Klöckner Pentaplast’s tray-to-tray recycled PET (rPET), made in its Spanish facility, has earned the RecyClass Traceability accreditation.
As a significant milestone in their Tray2Tray program, which was started four years ago, Klöckner Pentaplast launched the first food packaging trays made from closed-loop recycled rPET on July 16, 2024. The company’s rPET trays, produced at their Pravia plant in Spain, were also certified as the first closed-loop RecyClass Traceability. rPET Polymer.
Samuel Pardo, Senior Innovation Manager at kp, stated, “Achieving the RecyClass closed-loop traceability certification is a significant milestone for Klöckner Pentaplast and the Tray2Tray program.” Only 3 percent of our post-consumer recycled material originated from Tray2Tray when we started this effort in 2020. This percentage increased to 9.1% by 2022 and then to 11.4% in 2023, which translates to more than 900 million post-consumer containers that were collected and reused.
