Mumbai — December 13, 2024: ReCircle, the leading resource recovery organisation, announces the return of its much-anticipated Christmas Dry Waste Collection Drive in partnership with Pluckk, India’s leading lifestyle-oriented Fresh Food Brand to clean up Mumbai.

On the heels of its successful Diwali Waste Collection Drive this October in Mumbai, ReCircle collected 45,000+kgs of dry waste over a period of 2 weeks.

Now, with the Christmas Dry Waste Collection Drive, ReCircle aims to encourage individuals and households to prioritize waste segregation, with a focus on mobilizing the community during Christmas—a season of giving, renewal, and joy—and with a goal of diverting as much dry waste as possible from landfills and water bodies.

“In a context like Mumbai, where we are grappling with rapid urbanization, rising pollution and waste we need simple yet effective solutions in order to build a cleaner and fairer city for everyone. Our Christmas Dry Waste Collection Drive is an effective step in the right direction by merging public action and raising awareness about the importance of waste segregation, recycling and enabling people to adopt sustainable practices. We believe in the power of community in creating a significant impact, which is why every sign-up matter if we want a cleaner Mumbai”, said Nikki Gupta, Brand Advisor, ReCircle.

ReCircle’s dry waste collection drive is a monthly initiative that the company undertakes in specific locations across the city of Mumbai wherein it collects all dry recyclable waste from households, schools, and corporations.

Pratik Gupta, CEO — Pluckk adds, “This is the second year in a row we have partnered with ReCircle for their Christmas drive. Focusing on sustainability & being actively involved in reducing our plastic footprint is an important part of our values at Pluckk. We want to positively impact the environment as we grow as a company and such initiatives help us do that.”

The collected materials include paper/cardboard, plastic, metal, glass and e-waste which will be collected and sent to ReCircle’s Material Recovery Facility in Dahisar, Mumbai. The waste will then be segregated by ReCircle’s informal waste workers or Safai Saathis where it is cleaned, processed and bailed. This processed waste is then sent out to recyclers who convert it into plastic granules. The granules are then converted to new products.
