US semiconductor giant Qualcomm Inc. said it resumed selling products to Huawei, though it did not say whether it had received a license to be exempt from an American government ban on sales to the Chinese telecom giant, said Caixin.
Qualcomm is also working on solutions that will allow sales to continue in the future, CEO Steve Mollenkopf told us at the company’s headquarters Monday. Mollenkopf didn’t say what kind of products Qualcomm is selling to Huawei.
Since Huawei was placed on the backlist in May, US businesses require a government license to sell products or provide services to the Chinese company. The US has argued that Huawei poses a national security threat due to its alleged close relations with the Chinese government.
