NIFT Gandhinagar showcases graduates

NIFT Gandhinagar organized Graduation Projects and Presentations for the class of 2024, including Fashion Design, Space Design, Textile Design, and Fashion Technology. The event took place on May 31, 2024, at NIFT Gandhinagar Campus with Smt. Sunaina Tomar as the Chief Guest. Shri Lalit Narayan Singh Sandu and Prof. Dr. Sameer Sood were also present for the inauguration of the event.

Several industry leaders were invited as guests to witness the graduation ceremony of NIFT Gandhinagar’s graduating students. Among them were Mr. Maulik Bhagat, Managing Director of Nascent Info Technologies Pvt. Ltd. and CEO of 1000 Island Hotels & Resorts, Mr. Jay Vora, Co-founder of Serpent Consulting Services Pvt. Ltd, and Ms. Ruchi Mehta, Design Director at Future Research Design Company, Bangalore, among others.

The program started with an inaugural ceremony at NIFT Gandhinagar, featuring speeches from Prof. Dr. Sameer Sood and Smt. Sunaina Tomar. Tomar encouraged students to dream big and highlighted the importance of institutions like NIFT in providing opportunities for success. She praised students’ creativity and advised them to create their own brands for global recognition in the fashion industry. Tomar emphasized that every student has unique abilities and potential, and with the right mindset and platform, they can overcome limitations and achieve greatness. The message conveyed was to inspire students to reach for their goals and make a significant impact in their chosen field.

Prof. Dr Sameer Sood, Director of NIFT Gandhinagar, praised the graduating class of 2024 for their hard work and encouraged them to pursue their dreams with dedication. He expressed confidence in their ability to succeed in their chosen fields. Guests also commended the students for their perseverance and creativity, acknowledging the countless hours they dedicated to their education. They congratulated the graduates on their accomplishments and encouraged them to strive for excellence in the future.

The Graduation Showcases and Displays at NIFT Gandhinagar, titled Vyakt 2024, featured 35 unique projects by graduating Master of Design students in various sectors. The emphasis was on strategic design management, ethical branding, and marketing innovation. The projects showcased how design-led strategies can drive digital potential and incorporate local value chains, cultural practices, and marginalized communities, inspiring students to become impactful contributors to national advancement.

The Textile Design Department hosted the “Tantu 2024” event, featuring designs from 39 graduating students. Sponsors included Arvind Ltd., Bajaj, Ashima, and Vardhman Textiles. Students showcased innovative projects combining traditional crafts with modern textiles, bridging the gap between fashion start-ups and high-end brands. The event highlighted their dedication and creativity in blending traditional and modern elements in textile design.

“Technova-2024” featured graduation projects by 27 Bachelor’s of Fashion Technology students, showcasing innovative approaches in areas like product development, vendor selection, quality management, and standard operating procedures. The event celebrated the students’ talent and forward-thinking vision, with the Department of Fashion Technology at NIFT Gandhinagar recognizing their contributions by securing esteemed placements for them.

The “Impulse 2024” annual Graduation Showcase of the Fashion Design Department featured the creative journey of 40 students through their graduation projects. Each collection showcased the students’ unique perspectives on fashion design and innovative approaches. The event displayed a diverse range of styles and designs, highlighting the talents of NIFT graduates. The showcase captivated the attention of attendees and reflected the students’ four years of intensive learning.

The showcase displayed students’ design processes, showcasing their development from concept to final execution. It featured designs celebrating cultural heritage, pushing fashion boundaries, and reflecting current trends. “Impulse 2024” demonstrated graduates’ technical skills, creative vision, and ability to blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics, impressing attendees with their innovative approaches to design.
