Grasim Industries Ltd. proudly unveils EcoSodium, a recovered Sodium Sulphate (SS) from Viscose Staple Fibre (VSF) production process. This recovery helps in reducing the environmental footprint through limiting the discharge in waste water.

Sodium Sulphate, a pivotal inorganic chemical with extensive applications, is traditionally sourced from mining or synthetic means. Grasim is in sync with global best practices in sodium sulphate recovery by continuously improving its processes.

“With EcoSodium, we are not only delivering on sustainability but also redefining industry standards,” says Mr. ManMohan Singh, Chief Marketing Officer at Grasim Industries Ltd.

With full traceability of raw materials and conforming to REACH, ZDHC MRSL, EcoSodium ensures responsible sourcing and manufacturing practices. Moreover, recovery of sodium sulphate during fibre manufacturing process reduces total dissolved solids (TDS) and salinity in treated wastewater, further promoting sustainability.

According to Mr. Surya Valluri, Chief Sustainability Officer at Grasim Industries Ltd., “EcoSodium exemplifies our commitment to embracing sustainable practices and solutions.”

EcoSodium’s production process, management systems, traceability of all raw materials, and supply chain management were all assessed by UK based BluWin Ltd. Detailed case studies are available on Birla EcoSodium website for reference, click here to access the case studies.

Spanning various industries including textiles, detergents, glass manufacturing, zinc smelting, pulp and paper, and leather chemicals, EcoSodium emerges as a versatile solution, aligning with the vision of sustainable development.
