Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Autumn Edition, which concluded its 30th anniversary event earlier this year, will launch a new chapter from August 20 to 22, 2025, at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. The global trade platform will once again bring together domestic and foreign industry participants under the new fair theme, “Powering home textile connections in Asia.” It will use its “textile power” to promote business interchange during the fall peak sourcing season.
The significance of this event in promoting cross-border and cross-sector cooperation was emphasized by Ms. Wilmet Shea, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd: “This year’s 30th anniversary edition saw a 10% increase in visitors, with 13% of the total consisting of foreign customers. We anticipate more foreign visitors in August of next year as a result of China expanding its visa-free access and adding more nations to the list. We also hope that the exhibition will show its growing importance to international industry players. Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles is the perfect venue for exhibitors to demonstrate their “textile power” to the home and contract sectors.
One of the main themes throughout the home textile section of Messe Frankfurt’s Texpertise Network is “textile power.” Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles is spreading the idea throughout Asia through Shanghai, a major textile hub, showcasing a dedication to bringing together global industry players from various sub-sectors and related markets.
In the meantime, China’s domestic textile sector is making use of its robust production advantages; in 2024, demand from significant export markets reversed the 2023 downturn. The nation’s domestic textile exports increased by 3.8% year over year to USD 35.7 billion between January and September [1], with growth significantly above average in the US, EU, and Latin American markets. The demand has frequently mirrored worldwide movements toward innovation and sustainability.
Discussing emerging market trends, a Japanese exhibitor at the previous edition, Mr Runhao Ma, General Manager, Overseas Sales & Production Dept of Toyo Orimono Co Ltd, noted: “Previously only about 10% of our Japanese customers were looking for sustainable products, now 50% to 60% of our customers have such demands.
Mr Mário Abreu, Technical Manager of the Elastron Group from Portugal also indicated the importance of exhibiting at the textile trading hub: “This is our fifth time joining Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles, we have a division in China with a huge commercial team, and we noticed this show is good for our Chinese market. We are happy with the first day, and had plenty of visitors, mainly Chinese but also some from the Middle East.”
The 2024 edition welcomed 946 exhibitors from 15 countries and regions across the 100,000 sqm show floor, who crossed paths with more than 35,000 visitors from 108 countries and regions. Long-term buyers such as Ms June da Silva, Director of Hertex from South Africa observed
