UK’s most iconic British emporium Harrods has become the newest retailer to undertake its hand at a fashion rental service.
Harrods has teamed up with a rental platform known to be My Wardrobe HQ to offer its customers the opportunity to, rent fashion both from MWHQ’s site as well as from a fanatical pop-up at Harrods’ Knightsbridge store.
Shoppers can rent the pieces for either 4 to 7 days or 10 to 14 days. According to Harrods, the pop-up will stock up a “highly curated” selection of formal and event pieces as consumers gear up to return to in-person events after a year of one and off lockdowns. There will be several sustainable initiatives launched by Harrods, because it explores new circular business models. Last year they announced a partnership with an aftercare service which provides repair for its customers.
“Spectacular collections and unique pieces that haven’t had the chance to be seen or celebrated during the pandemic and there will be more weddings, birthdays and other celebrations than ever before, therefore the joy of event dressing is back and that I’m so proud to present the edit that we have created, a collection of dresses that can be effortlessly styled for any occasion”, said Harrods’ fashion director Lydia King.
“This agreement will be able to maximize the audience for those items and make sure that they continue to be in circulation for as long as possible and it is where sustainability and fantasy often become one”, said Sacha Newall co-founder of MWHQ.
