Best Corporation, Tirupur is investing around Rs. 60 crore in Madhya Pradesh!

The company has got the land for its unit in the state, which is expected to start production in next 6 months. Going forward, this initiative is expected to generate employment for at least 6,000 people.

The executives of Best Corporation also made few visits to the state in this regard.

A. Rajkumar, MD, Best Corporation, told Apparel Resources, “The factory will be at Nagziri, very near to Ujjain city, which is not only well-connected, but also has good labour availability. MP Government is also supportive.”

As far as midlevel management availability is concerned, the company will initially arrange professionals from outside and over the years the number will grow organically.

With regard to raw materials, it prefers to source locally. Currently, there aren’t any plans to start vertical operations in MP.

The company will start this facility with 1,000 machines and is expected to run its double shift.

“Market sentiments are always positive if you have the right product at a reasonable price, and so we are positive about the market,” he said.

Rohan Saxena, ED, Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC), Indore told Apparel Resources, “The factory has been allotted 15 acres of land on 75 per cent subsidy compared to the market price. Cabinet Committee of Investment Promotion (CCIP) has cleared this project.”

It is pertinent to mention here that Madhya Pradesh has only few large garment factories like Pratibha Syntex and Maral Overseas (LNJP Bhilwara). And this is the first time that any apparel giant of Tirupur is setting up a factory in MP.

Working with top global brands and retailers, Best Corporation is an integrated textile company having operations from spinning to garmenting. Established in 1963 with 25 machines, the company has grown steadily over the years and is today a US $ 100 million enterprise.

The company employs about 10,000 people and is known for knitted garments for men, women and toddlers for the world market and specialises in underwear and babywear.

Despite all best efforts to enhance skill development, Tamil Nadu, a leading textile and apparel producing state, has been facing acute shortage of workforce and now considering that a leading apparel exporter of the state has taken a step to start a factory in MP, it will not be wrong to say that in coming days, there may be many more such investments by the apparel exporters of Tamil Nadu in MP or other states.
