Texstyle, a Danish company, has released Dolly Recycled fabric, which looks like wool but is totally composed of recycled plastic bottles.
Dolly Recycled fabric, designed by Texstyle founder Sren Mller, has the softness and feel of wool and is made entirely of recycled polyethylene terephthalate, often known as PET.
Each metre of cloth is made from thirty empty 1.5-litre bottles. According to Texstyle, an accent chair upholstered in
Dolly Recycled would require around 75 bottles.
Since 2018, the company has been investing in research and development of recycled polyester yarns in accordance with worldwide recycling standards.
According to the company, when used as upholstery, Dolly Recycled cloth maintains the creative characteristics of Nordic furniture while providing comfort and tactility.
“These days, it is feasible to get high-quality upholstery textiles produced entirely of up-cycled yarns from PET bottles,” Texstyle explained.
“Thanks to our new recycled line and our consumers, some plastic waste is no longer ending up in nature, but in beautiful homes.”
Dolly Recycled fabric is available in white and natural, traditional grey, black and brown, and modern old rose, as well as some more daring colours like forest green and Bordeaux grapes.
