In a bid to promote socio-economic recovery and address multidimensional vulnerabilities, Hirdaramani Apparel and the Lacoste Foundation have joined forces through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Sri Lanka’s facility for Private Sector Giving. The partnership aims to uplift communities and enhance food security in the region.

To mark the collaboration, Mr. Vinod Hirdaramani, Chairman of Hirdaramani Apparel, and Ms. Azusa Kubota, Resident Representative of UNDP in Sri Lanka, engaged in a symbolic exchange of letters. The event was attended by several key figures from UNDP in Sri Lanka and Hirdaramani Apparel.

Speaking about the partnership, Ms Azusa Kubota highlighted the importance of working directly with vulnerable communities and families to achieve inclusive growth and resilience. She expressed appreciation for the valuable collaboration with Hirdaramani Apparel and the Lacoste Foundation, focusing on the economic empowerment of women for sustainable futures.

The partnership will provide grants for Integrated Backyard Poultry and Market Development, benefiting over 100 families. This initiative will integrate free-range backyard poultry farming with commercial fruit and vegetable production, enhancing the income and nutrition supply for the beneficiaries. Moreover, it will establish market linkages and provide regular access to eco-friendly produce for over 500 community members.

Mr. Vinod Hirdaramani emphasized that uplifting communities across their footprint is a longstanding commitment. He expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating that it aligns with their shared values and will strengthen community livelihoods, ultimately improving the overall quality of life. Hirdaramani Apparel greatly appreciates the support of UNDP and is dedicated to partnering with like-minded organizations for positive change within their communities.

The project targets communities residing in Vavuniya Town and Vavuniya South DS divisions, which are near Hirdaramani’s manufacturing operations. The initiative perfectly reflects the core values of the Lacoste Foundation and Hirdaramani Apparel, focusing on education, environment, and health.

By collaborating with UNDP and the Lacoste Foundation, Hirdaramani Apparel hopes to make a significant impact on the lives of local communities, enhancing their living conditions and creating a brighter future.
