Secretary, Ministry of Textiles visits the Work Premises of Shri Gopal Saini, Shilpguru to oversee the ongoing Handicrafts Technical Training Programme (HTTP) sanctioned in Blue Pottery Craft

Shri U. P. Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles visited Weavers Service Centre at Jaipur, Rajasthan and interacted with weavers and other stakeholders today. He  met with the Senior Officers of the State Govt of Rajasthan at Udyog Bhawan, Jaipur. He also visited the Work Premises of Shri Gopal Saini, Shilpguru to oversee the ongoing Handicrafts Technical Training Programme (HTTP) sanctioned in Blue Pottery Craft. The artisans briefed him on the design, colouring and other intricacies of  the Blue Pottery.

 Shri Singh in his address  said   that Ministry of Textiles under various components of Handicrafts Cluster Development Scheme provides  infrastructural support, market access, design and technology up-gradation and training to handicrafts artisans to assist them to set up units with modern infrastructure. He said that government  is taking various measures to promote all forms of handicrafts.

Shri Singh visited Sanganer cluster Producer company, (hand block printing craft) and distributed Pehchan  Identity cards to some of the artisans and interacted with the beneficiary artisans. He said that it is the endeavor of the government to identity  each artisan and issue a Pehchan  Identity card to them. He also visited Jaipur integrated texcraft   Park, Bagru to get first hand information about block printing art and Sanganer Enviro Project Development under IPDS.

The Secretary also participated in the ‘Chaupal- Hastshilpiyon ke saath Samvad’ organized by the office of the Development Commissioner Handicrafts, Jaipur under  Ministry of Textiles,  Govt of India. Later he attended  meeting with prominent Industry Players organized by Garment Exporters Association of Rajasthan.

Shri Singh is on three days visit to Rajasthan  from 1st to 3rd October, 2021 to meet the weavers and artisans of various handicrafts clusters and interact with them to know how government policies and programs like Comprehensive Handicrafts Cluster Development Scheme, e- commerce and onboarding of artisans on GeM Portal are benefiting them.
