Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, the state industries minister, asked textile industry entrepreneurs to come and invest in Bihar so that the country can leapfrog Bangladesh in the garmenting business.

Hussain met with the Synthetic Rayon Textile Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC) at its Mumbai headquarters to develop a draught textile strategy for Bihar. He emphasised Bihar’s strategic location for both internal and export markets, noting that majority of the state’s districts are accessible by adjacent airports in Bihar and neighbouring states.

According to him, the state has launched online Common Application Form (CAF) submission to make the single-window system more functional. JSW, Essar, and Micromax have recently expressed interest in investing in the state, according to the minister.

The SRTEPC executive council, including chairman Dhiraj Raichand Shah, attended the meeting. Brijesh Mehrotra, the Additional Chief Secretary for Industries, and R S Srivastav, the Investment Commissioner, were also present at the meeting.
