ASTM International, formerly known as the American Society for Testing and Materials, is developing a standard test for cotton research labs, cotton merchants and spinners, and regulatory agencies.
The test technique (WK75782) focuses on cotton fibres from a loose, chemically untreated sample collected before harvest, during ginning, mill processing, or unravelled from raw yarn or fabric.
Australia’s CSIRO Agriculture and Food has developed a new standard for the examination of cotton fibers. The standard is designed to provide direct and quick assessment of a cotton fiber sample’s properties. This effort directly relates to the Sustainable Development Goal #12 on responsible consumption and production.
