Through its subsidiaries, IVL Dhunseri Petrochem Industries Ltd. and Dhunseri Ventures Ltd., Indorama is building two greenfield PET recycling plants, located in Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir, and Khurdha, Odisha. Expected to be operational by next year, the facilities will contribute to a combined annual capacity of 100,000 metric tons of rPET.

The Indorama ESG Council Chairman, Yash Lohia, emphasized the importance of the collaboration in meeting India’s growing need for environmentally friendly packaging. He mentioned that these facilities will help cut down on plastic waste by converting used PET bottles into useful materials.

The venture’s compatibility with the company’s environmental goals and its larger commitment to a circular economy were highlighted by Varun Jaipuria, Vice Chairman of Varun Beverages.

The collaboration highlights the dedication of both businesses to developing recycling infrastructure and is in line with India’s regulatory drive for rPET content. The goal of Indorama, the biggest PET recycler in the world, is to recycle 750,000 tons of PET yearly by 2025, extending its leadership in environmentally friendly packaging.
