Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal remains optimistic that India will achieve its ambitious target of $2 trillion in exports by 2030 despite geopolitical tensions and inflation concerns. Speaking at the inauguration of Patsan Bhavan in Kolkata, Goyal acknowledged the impact of conflicts in Ukraine and Israel and issues concerning trade in the Red Sea. Despite implementing low food grain production restrictions to curb domestic inflation, Goyal expressed confidence that Indian exports, currently at $770-775 billion, will continue growing.

Emphasizing the potential of the jute industry, Goyal stressed the need for concerted efforts by both the central and state governments, along with increased contributions from industry players. India presently exports approximately Rs 1,500 crore worth of jute. Goyal called for the sector to showcase its products at Bharat Tex 2024, the world’s largest textile event in New Delhi from February 26-29.

Furthermore, Goyal highlighted the central government’s achievements and called upon the people of West Bengal for their support in the upcoming general elections.
