TIRUPUR: Thousands of energy looms would continue to be closed as fabric and grey cloth producers from Tiruppur and Coimbatore will go on a 15-day strike from May 22 to protest in opposition to the upward jab in the rate of yarn.
Speaking to TNIE, TN Textile Entrepreneurs affiliation Coordinator K Sakthivel said, “Earlier we tried to protest having manufacturing for a few days. But, that did not have any end result so, we are pressured to enter into a well-known strike.”
During these days, the producers will now not procure yarn from mills. Over 200 massive fabric producers and weaving devices will stay closed these days, and provide of warp yarn to weaving devices will be hit, he added.
P Velusamy, president of Palladam powerloom weaving gadgets proprietors association, said:” After a lengthy battle and various rounds of negotiations, cloth corporations multiplied weaving charges. But, now, on account that material businesses are affected by using the yarn fee hike, they have stopped presenting yarn. Warp yarn is a key factor in weaving and we will be compelled to shut our units”.
