For makers of polyester filament, polyester POY, industrial yarn, and grey and white yarn to obtain Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification, the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals has extended the deadline until July 3.
BIS certification will be necessary for the four products starting on July 3 rather than April, according to an order dated March 31.
But, BIS certification is now required for polyester staple fibre and viscose staple fibre, according to Ravi Sam, head of the Southern India Mills’ Association, who welcomed the news (PSF). Specialty fibres that are not produced in India should not be subject to the VSF and PSF Quality Control Orders.
