Lenzing group empowers Ichalkaranji weavers with TENCEL™ Lyocell at The Lenzing Conclave

India, May 26, 2023: – The Lenzing Group, world leading provider of wood-based specialty fibers, hosted the 10th edition of ‘The Lenzing Conclave’ in Ichalkaranji, Maharashtra. The event was hosted in partnership with and through extensive support by Ichalkaranji Shuttleless Fabrics Manufacturer’s Association (ISFMA).The conclave served as a platform for industry experts from the region to exchange invaluable commercial and technical knowledge concerning the application of TENCEL™️ Lyocell fibers during the crucial weaving stage.

The adoption of Lenzing fibers by weavers in Ichalkaranji has experienced a substantial upswing, reflecting the expanding presence of Lenzing Group in the Indian market. Recognizing the importance of this region, Lenzing took the initiative to engage with numerous weavers and processors, extending exclusive invitations to be part of this significant conclave. It served as an exceptional platform for Lenzing Group to connect directly with the local industry stakeholders, fostering collaborative relationships and promoting the use of TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers in their weaving processes

The choice to host the conclave in Ichalkaranji further stems from its recognition as a prominent center for producing high-quality woven greige fabrics. Today there are more than 22000 shutleless machines running in the area that are expected to double in next 5 years. While the local market primarily deals with cotton fibers, the usage of TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers has been on the rise in the region. Ichalkaranji plays a significant role in supplying fabrics to Indian brands and retailers, as well as to international groups across the United States and European Union.

At the conclave, Lenzing Fibers delivered a comprehensive presentation that offered the audience valuable insights into the vast opportunities, challenges, and remarkable potential of TENCEL™️ Lyocell fibers within the industry. One of the key highlights of the event was a stimulating panel discussion featuring three fabric manufacturers who were among the early adopters of TENCEL™️ Lyocell fibers in the region. The panel was expertly moderated by Mr. Avinash Mane, Senior Commercial Director, Lenzing Group and included the esteemed participation of Mr. Nikunj Bagdia, Managing Director of Ken Enterprises, Mr. Sanjay Patni, Managing Director of Ratanmoti Texfab, and Mr. Vasudev Jhanwar, Managing Director of Ramkrishna Group. The engaging discussion allowed these industry leaders to share their invaluable perspectives and experiences on the subject, contributing to a deeper understanding of the topic at hand.

The conclave witnessed a diverse gathering of sizing mills, weavers, processors, spinners and traders, with a notable presence of those who had already embraced the remarkable qualities of TENCEL™️ fibers. The audience displayed an enthusiastic reception towards the captivating range of product innovations showcased at the event, which were meticulously crafted by manufacturers from the vibrant town of Ichalkaranji.

Of particular interest were the weavers, who eagerly sought a deeper understanding of the immense opportunities that lay ahead. They actively engaged in discussions covering intricate technical aspects, supply chain dynamics, effective marketing strategies, and pricing intricacies related to the range of Lenzing fibers, including the immensely successful trio of TENCEL™️ Lyocell, modal, and LENZING™️ ECOVERO™️ viscose fibers.
