Canopy, a prominent environment-focused not-for-profit organization, has recently unveiled its annual Hot Button Report, providing fashion brands and retailers with a robust assessment of suppliers involved in Man Made Cellulosic Fibers (MMCF) production and their forest fiber sourcing practices.

Grasim Industries Ltd.’s Managing Director, Mr H. K. Agarwal, and Business Director of Birla Cellulose expressed his satisfaction with the company’s high ranking. According to Agarwal, Birla Cellulose’s recognition in the report confirms their unwavering dedication to sustainable wood sourcing, forest conservation, innovation, transparent operations, and next-generation fiber solutions throughout their value chain.

Birla Cellulose, together with other global MMCF producers, has been actively supporting calls to implement the Convention on Biological Diversity’s commitment to preserving a minimum of 30% of terrestrial ecosystems by 2030. The company collaborates with influential entities such as Canopy, Fashion for Good, and Circular Fashion Partnership to promote circularity and drive positive change within the industry.

Canopy’s Executive Director, Nicole Rycroft, congratulated Aditya Birla for securing the top spot in the 2023 Hot Button Report. Rycroft praised their consistent efforts to eliminate Ancient and Endangered Forests from the MMCF supply chain and applauded their progress in bringing Next-Gen fibers to the market on a large scale.
