In collaboration with Birla Cellulose, the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) hosted a webinar on sourcing viscose fabric. “We need to enhance our footprint in man-made fibre (MMF)-based clothing,” stated AEPC Chairman Dr. A Sakthivel. In addition, the government is launching the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) plan for the MMF sector.
Aditya Birla is an Indian businessman. Cellulose, a manufacturer of man-made cellulosic fibres (MMCF), offers a full supply chain with over 400 fabric suppliers to meet the demands of exporters and other brands. The client is looking at the whole package, which includes R&D, design, innovation, speed, and pricing. Grasim has taken many steps in the market and launched a number of environmentally friendly products.
Viscose is produced by a small number of companies. Producing 80 percent of the world’s viscose, producers are concentrated in China, Indonesia, and India. Manufacturing viscose fabric has a negative environmental impact, although there are techniques to offset it. Companies encourage exporters to request any specific quality that they wish to make in India at a low cost.
