The 7th edition of the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) is all set to kick off on 21 November at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in New Town. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will grace the occasion, accompanied by her Cabinet ministers and senior bureaucrats led by Chief Secretary HK Dwivedi. The event will commence at 3 p.m. and will span two days, taking place at three different venues. The Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan, and Dhana Dhanya auditorium will host the various sessions, with the final program scheduled for 22 November at the Dhana Dhanya auditorium.

The main auditorium at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre boasts the highest capacity in the country, making it a perfect venue for national and international business leaders. Renowned personalities such as Mukesh Ambani, Niranjan Hiranandani, Sajiv Goenka, Sajjan Jindal, Sanjeev Puri, Purendu Chatterjee, and Harvardhan Neotia are expected to attend the summit, alongside other prominent industrialists. The event will also witness the participation of delegations from countries like the United Kingdom and Poland.

A key focus of the summit will be the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises and Textile (MSME) sector, where Bengal holds the second position nationally. The state aims to become the leading MSME destination in the country. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is anticipated to elaborate on the business potential and advantages that Bengal offers to foreign delegates. These include the state’s strategic location as a gateway to the North East region and its vast hinterland. The government’s investment-friendly policies, land bank initiatives, and emphasis on tourism as an industry will also be highlighted.

To ensure the smooth flow of the summit, meticulous preparations have been made, supervised by senior bureaucrats, including Debasish Sen, the managing director of the Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO), and senior police officers. The authorities have spruced up pavements and railings in New Town, Eastern Metropolitan Bypass, and around the Dhana Dhanya auditorium. Comprehensive police arrangements have been implemented around the venues to avoid any traffic congestion and guarantee seamless mobility for the guests.

The attending guests will be accommodated in star hotels in both New Town and the city. With a significant focus on bolstering the tourism sector, investments in coastal areas have been made to attract a greater volume of tourists. Digha, Mandarmani, and Sunderbans are among the regions where considerable opportunities for investment lie.
