September 28, 2023, Navi Mumbai:  Walplast Welfare Foundation (WWF), the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) arm of DryChem India Pvt Ltd Group of companies, a prominent manufacturer of building construction materials, organized an inaugural event in collaboration with Project Nanhi Kali, a non-profit organization committed to delivering high-quality education and assistance to underprivileged girls across India. The gathering in Palghar, Navi Mumbai brought together around 60 participants of the Nanhi Kali program, along with their parents, community partners and representatives from both Nanhi Kali Foundation and DryChem India Pvt. Ltd.
Commencing with the welcome speech, the event showcased a special performance by the Nanhi Kali school children, followed by the distribution of Learning kits courtesy of the Walplast Welfare Foundation team. At the  event, Mr. Aniruddha Sinha, Head of Marketing, CSR, Toll Manufacturing & Business Head – P2P  Division from Drychem India in his address said, “I am extremely honoured to stand among these bright  young minds of Nanhi Kalis and witness their unwavering enthusiasm for education. As we distribute these  educational kits today, we do so with the understanding that we are not just providing materials; we are equipping  these girls with the tools they need to dream, learn, and succeed in life. This event marks the beginning of a journey  filled with hope, determination, and the collective will to bridge the gender gap in education.
“The Nanhi Kali  program aims to provide underprivileged girls with the support needed to continue their education. The program  offers a personalized adaptive EdTech learning platform that tailors instructions to the learning level of each girl,  ensuring better comprehension and meaningful learning. Powered by artificial intelligence, the software is delivered  to the girls via digital tablets. The program raises awareness within local communities about the importance of girls’ education. A sports curriculum is incorporated to promote the girls’ holistic development. Throughout the year, employees of DryChem India will volunteer their time to upgrade the skills of the girls and community members, further supporting education and community development. Through this association, Walplast Welfare Foundation is supporting the education of over 816 (666 primary and 150 secondary) Nanhi Kalis, hailing from Palghar (Maharashtra), Bharuch (Gujarat), Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) and Nashik (Maharashtra), till March 31, 2024.
Sharing his excitement about the event, Shri Kaushal Mehta, Managing Director of Drychem India, said, “At Drychem, we firmly believe in the strong connection between business success and social responsibility. Our dedication to corporate social responsibility goes beyond mere philanthropy; it involves actively engaging in improving communities and the environment. We recognize the transformative power of education in creating  positive societal change, which is why we have partnered with the Nanhi Kali Program. This collaboration  represents a small but significant step towards our larger goal. Through this event, our objective was to raise  awareness among families and local communities about the importance of education for underprivileged girls,  decrease dropout rates, encourage regular attendance, and bridge the gender gap in education.”

Project Nanhi Kali, started by Mr. Anand Mahindra in 1996, has been dedicated to providing holistic support to economically and socially disadvantaged girls enrolled in government schools across India. Over the past two decades, this project has positively impacted the lives of more than 550,000 girls, affectionately known as “Nanhi Kalis” across 15 states of India.
