In a joint effort to promote carbon neutrality, Dow Chemical India and Glass Wall Systems India have signed an agreement for Dow to supply DOWSIL Facade Sealants from its Decarbia portfolio for Glass Wall System’s curtain wall system. This partnership highlights a commitment to reducing embodied carbon in building materials. Dow’s carbon neutral silicone sealants, verified through PAS 2060 Standard, offer a lower carbon footprint thanks to investments in decarbonization of silicon metal assets in Brazil.
Silicone sealants used in façades provide durable bonding in insulated prefabricated elements, reducing carbon emissions from building operations. Dow Consumer Solutions and Glass Wall Systems collaborated to achieve carbon neutrality in silicone sealants like DOWSIL 983 Structural Glazing Sealant and DOWSIL 791 Weatherproofing Sealant. This was done through responsible sourcing, reduction of manufacturing emissions, use of renewable energy, and carbon offsetting. The carbon neutral silicone service for building façades supports green-building initiatives and can improve sustainability ratings in the construction industry. Dow’s Decarbia portfolio aims to develop innovative and sustainable solutions for the building and infrastructure sector. Through these efforts, Dow is committed to promoting environmental responsibility and reducing the carbon footprint of construction projects.
