The Bolguard I and Bolguard II single gene and double gene Bt cotton seed costs were revised on Thursday by the National Seed Association of India on behalf of the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, K Rosaiah.
In 2006, the state government set Bt cotton pricing at Rs 750 for a 450-gram packet of single gene and Rs 925 for double gene technologies. In 2008, these costs were lowered to Rs 650 and Rs 750 per packet.
The organisation members claimed that at this rate, seed firms were losing between Rs. 50 and Rs. 100 per package. They stated that they would not be able to if the pricing were not changed. a sufficient amount of seed this year and also be unable to resume the manufacturing of Bt cotton seed for the next year.
