In a bid to propel Tamil Nadu to the forefront of the textile industry, the state government is set to unveil a revised textile policy. The announcement was made by R Gandhi, the Minister of Handlooms and Textiles, during the prestigious International Conference on Technical Textile. The updated policy seeks to provide enhanced support to manufacturing units engaged in man-made fiber production, with a special focus on those with investments under 50 crore.
According to Gandhi, the textile sector’s growth and its contribution to the state’s economy are crucial for Tamil Nadu to achieve its ambitious goal of becoming a one trillion economy by 2030. Highlighting the significance of the industry, the conference witnessed a massive turnout of over 600 participants from all corners of the country. The event was jointly organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Department of Textiles.
As the revised textile policy prepares to see the light of day, all eyes are now on Tamil Nadu’s determined efforts to spearhead the sector and secure its position as a global textile leader.
