The Indian Technical Textile Association (ITTA) recently concluded its 14th Annual General Meeting (AGM), marking a significant milestone for the industry. The event showcased the sector’s remarkable progress and celebrated the contributions of individuals and organisations that have played a pivotal role in its development.

Lifetime Achievement and Innovation Awards

One of the highlights of the AGM was the conferment of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Shri. Pramod Khosla, Chairman of Khosla Profil Pvt. Ltd. His exceptional contributions to the technical textile industry earned him this prestigious recognition. In addition, Shri Khosla was inducted into the ITTA Hall of Fame alongside industry pioneers Shri. Yogesh Kusumgar and Shri. Mohan Kavrie.

The AGM also recognised innovation in technical textiles through the ITTA Innovation Awards. Companies that have made groundbreaking strides in sustainability and product development were honoured. Garware Technical Fibres Ltd. and SRF Ltd. were among the awardees for their innovative products, demonstrating the sector’s potential to address societal needs and drive sustainable solutions.

Government Support and Industry Outlook

Shri. Rajeev Saxena, in his address to ITTA members, emphasised the association’s crucial role in advancing the technical textile sector. He highlighted ITTA’s active involvement in government initiatives and its efforts to foster innovation, sustainability, and growth. The government’s commitment to the sector was evident through the allocation of two-thirds of the total investments under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme to technical textiles.

Shri. Saxena also announced the upcoming introduction of Quality Control Orders (QCOs) for 11 key technical textile products. This move aims to protect the domestic market from low-cost foreign imports and create opportunities for Indian manufacturers.

Collaboration and Skill Development

Shri. Saxena urged traditional textile manufacturers to diversify into the technical textile space, leveraging their surplus manufacturing capacities. He emphasised the importance of training and skill development programs to support the industry’s growth, particularly in Tier-2 cities.

The 14th AGM of ITTA not only highlighted the industry’s achievements but also provided a platform for discussions on its future direction. By recognizing outstanding contributions, promoting innovation, and fostering collaboration, ITTA is paving the way for a bright future for the technical textile sector in India.
