In a groundbreaking collaboration aimed at redefining the possibilities of textile design, Birla Cellulose and Hyosung have unveiled a new collection of vibrant cellulosic knits. These innovative fabrics, made possible with Hyosung’s CREORA® Color+ Spandex, seamlessly blend vibrant colours with exceptional stretch and comfort.

The partnership between the global leader in viscose staple fibre (VSF) and the world’s largest manufacturer of spandex has resulted in a textile that addresses a long-standing challenge in the industry. Traditional spandex often struggles to absorb colour well, limiting the range of hues that can be achieved when dyeing with natural fibres like cotton, rayon, and modal.

Hyosung’s CREORA® Color+ Spandex is a game-changer. Developed specifically for natural blended materials, this reactive dyeable spandex offers the same performance stretch characteristics as the company’s flagship CREORA® Power Fit Spandex, while providing deeper, richer, all-over colour without grin-through. This makes it an attractive option for leading intimate, activewear, and ready-to-wear brands.

Dinesh Keswani, Hyosung Director of Technical and Business Development, India, stated that dyeable spandex knit fabrics offer a wealth of opportunities for designers and creators in various end-uses. As a comprehensive provider of textile solutions, Hyosung is pleased to collaborate with Birla Cellulose to bring this innovative product to market.

Birla Cellulose, a part of the Aditya Birla Group, shares Hyosung’s commitment to sustainability. The company’s research and development teams have worked tirelessly to create a fabric that not only looks beautiful but also minimises environmental impact. By developing man-made cellulosic dyeable spandex knit fabric, Birla Cellulose has reduced water usage, energy consumption, and overall waste reduction while achieving enhanced shade depth.

Abir Chakrabarti, Joint President of Grasim Industries Limited- Pulp & Fiber, stated that in today’s era of conscious consumerism, sustainability is a primary focus. He emphasised that their fabric is not solely about appearance but also about minimising environmental harm.

As Birla Cellulose continues to push the boundaries of textile innovation, the company is excited to introduce its new cellulosic knit collection made with CREORA® Color+ Spandex to customers. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in creating a world where vibrant colours and stretchy comfort can coexist seamlessly.
