Bengaluru, February 04, 2025 – According to data supplied by Justdial, the top local search engine in India, demand for beauty services increased significantly in 2024 as compared to the year before. Search patterns in 2023 and 2024 throughout the winter months (November to mid-January) and summer 2024 to winter 2024 were compared.
According to the data, there was a notable 153% increase in searches for beauty services throughout India in the winter of 2024 when compared to the same time in 2023. With a 192% increase, this growth was especially noticeable in metropolitan areas. Notably, compared to 2024, searches for beauty services have tripled in Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Chennai. Ahmedabad’s search volume has doubled from the previous year, while searches in Pune and Kolkata have climbed by 2.5 times.
Demand increased significantly in non-metropolitan areas as well, rising 131%. Jaipur searches have increased 2.5 times, Chandigarh searches have tripled, and Indore searches have doubled from the previous year.
When certain service categories were examined, hair spas stood out as a leading candidate, as seen by a 219% rise in searches. With searches increasing six times over the previous year, Mumbai was in the lead, followed by Hyderabad and Pune at 3.5 times and Ahmedabad at 2.5 times. Additionally, there was a notable 124% increase in tan removal facial procedures.
Additionally, nationwide searches for “beauty parlors for pedicure” rose by 64%, with Mumbai leading the pack at 65%, followed by Chennai (64%), Bangalore (60%), and Delhi (37%).
There was a 42% increase in searches for beauty services in India between the summer and winter of 2024. With a 65% increase, this growth was especially noticeable in metro areas. The cities with the largest surges were Mumbai (88%), Pune (73%), Hyderabad (72%), Ahmedabad (71%), Bangalore (67%), Chennai (52%), Delhi (49%), and Kolkata (31%). A 30% rise was also observed in non-metropolitan areas, with Indore coming in first at 17% and Jaipur at 66%.
With 84% more searches in the winter than in the summer, hair spas remained a popular category. Mumbai set the pace, with searches increasing three times as much as they had in the summer of 2024. Hyderabad and Pune came in second and third, respectively. Wintertime witnessed a slight 5% increase in searches for “beauty parlors for pedicure,” with Bangalore accounting for 11%, Chennai for 21%, and Mumbai for 46%.
This report offers insightful information on how India’s beauty business is changing. The notable increase in demand, especially during the winter and for all service categories, is indicative of a greater focus on personal grooming and self-care. The data shows that customers are increasingly choosing professional beauty services and are moving toward more accessible and convenient solutions.
