Male swimwear prices have increased 30% in Mexico, with an average price of $7.0 per item.

Mexico Men Swimwear Import Price in April 2023 

Men’s swimwear cost $7.0 per unit (CIF, Mexico) in April 2023, an increase of 30% from the previous month. However, the import price experienced a largely flat trend pattern over the time under examination. The average import price climbed by 70% in February 2023 compared to the prior month, which was the highest rate of rise ever seen. In May 2022, average import costs peaked at $9.4 per unit for the period under consideration; however, from June 2022 through April 2023, import prices were slightly lower.

According to nation of origin, prices significantly varied: Vietnam had the highest price ($12.6 per unit), while Bangladesh had some of the lowest ($4.3 per unit).

Vietnam witnessed the highest rate of price growth from April 2022 to April 2023 (+2.6%), while prices for the other major suppliers saw a fall.

Mexico Men Swimwear Imports 

Men’s swimsuit imports into Mexico in April 2023 significantly decreased from March 2023 levels to 364K units, a decrease of -41.7%. Imports as a whole still show a discernible decline. The month of December 2022, when imports climbed by 349% month over month, appeared to have the fastest growth. Imports reached a peak of 1.2M units in January 2023, but from February through April 2023, they stalled out.

Men’s swimsuit imports significantly decreased in value to $2.5M (per IndexBox estimates) in April 2023. Imports generally experienced a sharp drop. With a month-over-month increase of 230% in December 2022, the rate of growth was most pronounced. In January 2023, imports throughout the period under review reached a record high of 4.4M units; however, from February 2023 to April 2023, imports were at a little lower level.

Mexico Men Swimwear Imports by Country 

China (212K units) was the top supplier of men’s swimwear to Mexico in April 2023, making up 58% of all imports. Furthermore, China imported three times more men’s swimwear than Bangladesh, the second-largest provider (80K units). With an 11% share of all imports, Indonesia (41K units) came in third place.

The average monthly growth rate of volume from China from April 2022 to April 2023 was -3.6%. The average monthly rates of import growth for the remaining providing nations were as follows: Bangladesh (-0.6% per month) and Indonesia (+4.5% per month).

China ($1.3M) was Mexico’s top source of men’s swimwear in terms of value, accounting for 51% of all imports. With a 16% share of all imports, Indonesia ($409K) held the second-place spot in the ranking. Bangladesh came in second with a 14% share.

The average monthly rate of increase in terms of value from China from April 2022 to April 2023 was -4.1%. The average monthly rates of import growth for the remaining exporting nations were as follows: Bangladesh (-0.7%) and Indonesia (+2.8%/month).
