I am writing to share with you the latest trade data by the US trade agency ‘Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA)’ for the period of January-June, 2022 and a few analyses.
As per the most updated data, USA imported USD 5.01 billion worth of apparel from Bangladesh during this period, while their import from the world was US$ 49.58 billion.
With 10.11 % share of USA’s total apparel import, Bangladesh remains the 3rd largest apparel source for USA. The import of USA from Bangladesh increased by 60.30% compared to the same period of 2021 while their global apparel import grew by 40.14%
China, being the top apparel import source for USA and having 20.67% share, registered 40.15% year-over-year growth. USA’s import from China reached USD 10.25 billion during this period.
Vietnam is the 2nd largest apparel import source for USA which posted 35.03% growth during the same period. USA imported USD 9.19 billion worth of clothing from Vietnam. Other countries having significant growth are Indonesia 60.27%, South Korea 57.77%, India 57.27%, Cambodia 52.52% and Pakistan 49.99%.
