Bengaluru, 20th June 2023:  Wedding fashion in India has witnessed a remarkable transformation over the years. From traditional attire saturated in centuries-old customs to a fusion of contemporary styles and global influences, the Indian wedding fashion landscape has become a vibrant palette reflecting the changing tastes and aspirations of modern brides and grooms. This evolution has not only embraced innovation but also celebrated the rich heritage and cultural diversity of the country, resulting in a dynamic fashion narrative. While traditional attires, such as Banarasi and Kanjeevaram sarees and intricately embroidered lehengas still hold immense significance, contemporary influences have seeped in, introducing fusion ensembles and experimental designs in bold colours.

ReshaMandi – India’s largest B2B marketplace for textile and fashion, has released its trend forecast report for the festive season of Winter 2023 to 2024 in the women’s ethnic wear category. The report is based on extensive research involving over 150+ brands, designers, celebrities, and influencers. The trend forecast highlights be jewelled fantasy as the main theme dominating the season, with predicted defining trends centred around artsy florals, accompanied by 3D embellishments and delicate embroidery. These trends are set to shape the fashion choices of brides and grooms, reflecting their evolving preferences and desires.

According to the report the key trends for the season will also include

  • Vibrant colours like Golden Rod, True Blue, Dark Purple, Fandango Pink, Mazarine Blue among others. Additionally, soft pastels like Shell Coral and Winsome Orchid are also seen as prevailing colour themes.
  • Fabric manipulations through raised embroideries are set to be a prominent trend for the upcoming season. This trend embraces the use of various embellishments such as beads, kundan, crystals, zari, and pearls.
  • The utilisation of brocade fabric in western ensembles such as blazers, jumpsuits, pants, etc., has observed a significant surge with many designers. Cutwork surfaces are set to make a significant impact in the upcoming festive season
  • The report also highlights the emerging trend of “fringe and feathered edges,” where textured and layered elements in clothing create a captivating visual appeal.
  • Mirror work and gota patti are also expected to be key trends for the season
  • The revival of Chikankari, a delicate and intricately crafted hand embroidery technique with contemporary twist, which now embraces coloured and silk threads on cool, pastel shades of lightweight fabrics to align with current fashion trends
  • The forecast also includes jewellery-inspired motifs as a significant trend. Jewellery embroidery on fabric using metallic threads, crystals, beads, sequins, and other materials creates intricate designs on fabric, giving it a three-dimensional appearance reminiscent of jewellery
  • Fabrics like pure silk, organza and silk blends are essentials, while modal, tencel, chinon and velvet are also expected to play a key role.
