The recent general assembly of ACIMIT – the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers – saw digital transformation of the textile sector post-pandemic as an opportunity.
The debate also focused on relaunching the sector with a number of upcoming initiatives following a setback in 2020 due to CO2.
The Italian textile sector experienced a near-complete shutdown during the first and second quarters of 2020. The second half of the year saw only a modest rebound, with travel restrictions still hurting performance. However, the general economic situation in Italy looks to be improving, both in terms of exports and in its home market.
Alessandro Zucchi, CEO and partner of Ferraro, has been approved as ACIMIT’s president for another two years. Federico Businaro (Santex Rimar Group), Cristian Locatelli (Marzoli, Camozzi Group), and Andrea Piattelli (Unitech) are joined as Vice Presidents by Ugo Ghilardi (Itema Group), who was chosen Vice President for the first time. Crosta, Gaudino, Marzoli, and Noseda have been granted historic positions in the assembly.
