Mumbai, 15th July 2020: Macao SAR has undertaken and implemented several preventive measures to flatten the curve and control the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in Macao. The city identified its first imported case on 22nd January 2020, post which, Macao has closely monitored the situation and implemented strict proactive and comprehensive measures to combat the spread of the virus within the city.
Speaking about Macao’s COVID-19 measures, Mr. Arzan Khambatta, Head of Macao Government Tourism Office, India, said “Tourism being an indispensable part of the service sector for any country, Macao is all set to take its first step to prepare the destination from the devastating effects of the pandemic with effective preventive measures. Since the beginning of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in early 2020, Macao has proven itself capable of battling the spread of COVID-19 with lowest reported cases and zero deaths till date.”
“Right now Macao is taking steps to overcome the coronavirus-induced tourism slump as well, they have started a new campaign to encourage local tourism called “Macao Ready Go! Local Tours”. The campaign is aimed for the locals as of now, but we hope it will soon be available for international travellers once travel bans are lifted.” He added.
