According to a study, automation has lowered the demand for human labor in the clothing industry's production process by over 31%, primarily through the replacement of assistance. It further stated that automation in the cutting process resulted in the largest reduction of 48%, while sewing saw a decrease of 26.57%.

BRAC University, the Bangladesh Labour Foundation, and Solidaridad Network Asia collaborated to perform research called "Assessment of Technological Transition in the Apparel Sector of Bangladesh and Its Impact on Workers."

The results were presented to the public yesterday at an event held at Amari Dhaka. According to Shahidur Rahman, a professor in BRAC University's department of economics and social sciences, automation does benefit workers in a number of ways.

Workers have serious difficulties as well, particularly women and those who are older, less literate, unskilled, and insecure.
