The increase in exports undoubtedly made the government happy. India set a lofty goal of $400 billion in commodity exports, which it achieved for the first time. I applaud our farmers, weavers, MSMEs, producers, and exporters for their accomplishments. Despite huge volume increases for numerous things, such as vehicles and rice, prices did not much increase, this year’s increase in exports was aided in part by increasing prices for commodities like oil, which soon increased as demand increased.

The director of the Centre for Research in Urban Issues, Kala Sridhar, spoke on urban issues by saying that it took a pandemic for us to realise the value of cities and how migrants depend on cities for their livelihoods. According to her, the occurrence of widespread “reverse migration” during the epidemic demonstrated the importance of integrating newcomers successfully into their host countries in the event of future pandemic-like conditions.
