Without meeting the quality standards set by the Bureau of Indian Standards and displaying the BIS mark, products covered by the Quality Control Orders (QCOs) cannot be manufactured, exchanged, or imported.
58 draught QCOs for 316 goods have been submitted so far this year, according to Goyal, who also oversees the ministry of consumer affairs.

He continued, “A living illustration of it is the expanding footprint of (iPhone maker) Apple in India, which is being closely compared with many other firms around the world as an example of India’s growth story.
