C.L.A.S.S. welcomed once more the UN call to action about the water on the occasion of 2023 World Water Day.

The message is about accelerating change to solve the water and water health crisis. And because water affects us all, we need everyone to take action. And as C.L.A.S. S. is close to fashion supply chains, we deeply discussed 3 subjects:

1- Which are the key information coming from territory? We heard from the expertise of Marevivo Onlus and Sea the Change

2- Hidden water, the water that is not felt nor seen in final products, but is required for almost every step of the textile and fashion production processes. We dived into supply chain water consumption with the case history of PureDenim

3- We also talked about water efficient new eco high tech solutions to secure Water health so we closed the session and  Sensil® BioCare by NILIT has been sharing its solutions.

Do not miss the opportunity to re-watch our Smart Voice and to hear the market insights of Raffaella Giugni Responsible Institutional Relations, from Marevivo Onlus, Alberto Carpanese, Co-Founder Sea the Change, Luigi Caccia, co-founder of PureDenim, Michelle Lea, Nilit Vice President Global Marketing.

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM THE SPEAKERS:
“In just one hour conversation we cannot change things, but we all know it’s a journey where each step counts… With our Smart Voices program we want to bring together on stage different know-hows, game changers and pioneers to inform about new inspiring and possible paths to accelerate change. Today our speakers shared their different expertises and perspectives and it is absolutely clear how important culture is in this moment of climate crisis. We all can make one step at the time in changing our consumerism habits, reducing our impacts in our daily choices.”

Giusy Bettoni, CEO and founder of C.L.A.S.S.

“Marevivo is an independent environmental association, which – since 1985 – has been fighting for the protection of the sea and its resources, through national and international actions and campaigns. The sea guarantees our life on Earth and the water is crucial for our existence. Therefore, we all need to take action NOW! There is no more time, three main issues must urgently be tackled: biodiversity and marine forests losses, climate crisis and pollution (especially marine pollution caused by plastic). We all need to change our habits, to consume less and to shift our energy sources to renewable ones.”

Raffaella Giugni – Responsible Institutional Relations Marevivo Onlus

“Sea the Change offers sustainable sea-based solutions. With our project “Poseidon” we support companies in protecting the most important ecosystem in the Meditteranean Sea: the Posidonia oceanica. With “Fishing for Litter” we reduce marine litter and plastic waste at the sea supporting local fishermen. Laslty with “Blue Carbon” we allow companies to reach carbon neutrality offsetting CO2 emissions while protecting the Venice lagoon. I think it is crucial to guide companies, but also friends and families in navigating towards new horizons of sustainability. It is all about sharing knowledge and activating change”

Alberto Carpanese, Co-Founder Sea the Change

“PureDenim is a company specialized in the production of sustainable denim. In the last 10 years we have made the revolution of the denim processes such as  Smart Indigo™, Natural Reco™ and Eco Sonic ™ just to name a few. Every time we can save a drop of water with our processes, we can truly have a huge impact on the textile industry. We are also actively researching on smart fibers that can reduce the impacts of our products. At the beginning of this year we launched The “Blue di Cupro” collection, made with seven fabrics made with Bemberg™ by Asahi Kasei, the unique fiber with a circular economy footprint that recently achieved the OK biodegradable MARINE certification, which guarantees the biodegradability of its products even in the marine environment”

Luigi Caccia, co-founder PureDenim

“NILIT,  a global producer of advanced and sustainable high quality nylon 6.6 fibers, has teamed up with organizations that work on the preservation of the oceans lately, not only supporting specific projects,  but also raising awareness and helping reduce the impact of the textiles industry. Between our range of smart solutions we offer SENSIL®️ BioCare to reduce the persistence of textile pollution in the ocean and landfills. After three years of independent laboratory testing according to ASTM D6691, SENSIL®️ BioCare has achieved almost 80% breakdown of Nylon 6.6 microfibers.  SENSIL®️ BioCare boasts: a breakdown rate of 79.4% in sea water after 1082 days.  As ingredients producers, we can truly impact the whole supply chain from the very beginning”.
